I'm Hua Chin, a product designer living in Bay Area, California. My 6+ years of design experience have taken me from the e-commerce sector, where I was the sole designer at a startup, to my current Senior Product Designer role at NEXT Insurance, where we're disrupting small business insurance.

My background blends engineering and human-centered design. As a Medical Device Engineer, I discovered a passion for user-centric design, realizing that even the most technically advanced products require a strong focus on user experience. This realization led me to pursue a master's degree in human-centered design at Northwestern University in Chicago, where I honed my skills in the design thinking process.

My engineering background instilled a strong analytical approach that informs my process—from user research and data analysis to close collaboration with stakeholders—to thoroughly understand the problem. This analytical foundation, combined with my design training, allows me to embrace the creative design thinking process, exploring diverse solutions and engaging stakeholders in collaborative discussions.

I'm drawn to complex problems and simplifying intricate user flows. My goal is always to create simpler, more efficient experiences for everyone, whether consumers making important online purchases or professionals optimizing their workflows.

In my free time, I enjoy activities like video games, knitting (I recently finished my first cardigan!), gardening, and spending time with my cat. When the weather is nice, I also love hiking, which is a great way to relax, exercise, and connect with friends.
